Member of Technical Staff
About the Role
Join a small, high-velocity AI consumer startup (seed/Series A stage) that is building a messaging-first AI assistant reaching millions of everyday users. You'll be a core technical contributor on a team of ~10, working alongside engineers from top quant trading firms and research labs to ship backend AI services that power real-world impact at scale.
What You'll Do
- Build and scale backend services powering an AI assistant used by a large and growing consumer base.
- Develop and maintain backend integrations with third-party health, productivity, and hardware partners.
- Optimize inference costs and performance across large language model providers (e.g., Anthropic, OpenAI).
- Collaborate closely with a tight-knit team of exceptional engineers with backgrounds in quant finance and academic research labs.
- Potentially engage in partner-facing interactions depending on interest and skill set.
What We're Looking For
Required:
- 2+ years of experience in AI or backend engineering (internship or full-time).
- Proficiency in TypeScript and Python for backend development.
- Experience at a fast-growing, high-impact startup or a top quantitative trading firm (e.g., Jane Street, Two Sigma, Citadel) or a quantitative role in investment banking.
- Strong computer science fundamentals.
- Ability to work on-site in Palo Alto, CA, Monday through Friday.
Nice to Have:
- Experience at a leading AI company (e.g., OpenAI, DeepMind, xAI).
- Medalist at the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) — considered an automatic screen-in.
- Degree from a top-tier university (e.g., MIT, Stanford, Carnegie Mellon).
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $150,000 – $230,000 USD annually (depending on experience).
- Visa sponsorship available.

Location
On-site in Palo Alto, CA, United States. Full in-person presence required Monday through Friday.
