High-Voltage Industrial Controls Technician

Make an Impact in Apple Grove

Step into a key reliability role at a growing steel manufacturing plant in Apple Grove. You’ll be the go-to expert for diagnosing, repairing, and improving complex power and control systems that keep production moving.

A Day in the Life

You arrive, review overnight logs, scan PLC fault histories, and map out a plan. A line trips—within minutes you’re tracing signals, confirming I/O health, and adjusting logic on a Siemens S7 to get product flowing again. Later, you inspect a 4,160V feeder, tune a VFD, and close the loop with maintenance and engineering on a root-cause fix. Before shift’s end, you lend a hand commissioning a newly installed motor control center.

What You’ll Do

  • Diagnose and repair electrical issues across heavy industrial steel processes to minimize downtime.
  • Work confidently around power systems including 480V, 4,160V, 13.5kV, and higher as required.
  • Troubleshoot, navigate, and modify PLC logic to restore equipment and optimize throughput.
  • Support Siemens S7 and other automation platforms; resolve communication and I/O faults.
  • Service VFDs, starters, contactors, relays, sensors, and control circuits.
  • Resolve problems with three-phase motors, control panels, and power distribution equipment.
  • Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings to guide repairs.
  • Execute preventive maintenance and inspections to catch issues before breakdowns occur.
  • Assist with installation, commissioning, and startup of new industrial machinery.
  • Apply rigorous electrical safety practices (including LOTO and high-voltage procedures).
  • Collaborate closely with maintenance, engineering, and operations teams to drive reliability.

What You Bring

  • Hands-on industrial electrical maintenance experience in heavy manufacturing.
  • Expertise with three-phase motors, industrial controls, and high-voltage equipment.
  • Proficiency troubleshooting PLC systems and editing logic when needed.
  • Experience with Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or comparable PLC platforms.
  • Skill with VFDs, motor control circuits, sensors, and electrical distribution systems.
  • Ability to read schematics and independently pinpoint electrical faults.
  • Strong safety mindset: lockout/tagout and safe troubleshooting are second nature.
  • Clear communicator who can work independently and within cross-functional teams.
  • Willingness to work rotating 12-hour day and night shifts.
