Electro-Mechanical Maintenance Technologist

  • You’re comfortable on 2nd or 3rd shift and don’t mind occasional weekend/holiday shutdown work.
  • You like pairing hands-on skills with digital tools like SAP, Indusoft, and Microsoft Office.

What you’ll do

  • Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, services, and repairs across production assets.
  • Lead and support equipment installations, relocations, and overhauls to improve throughput.
  • Diagnose root causes of failures and execute efficient corrections to reduce downtime.
  • Create work orders, order parts, capture time confirmations, and submit reports in our systems.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, safe shop; support contractors on special projects.

Choose your specialty

Openings may be filled as an Electrical Maintenance Technician or a Maintenance Mechanic—we’ll align your offer with your experience and plant needs.

Electrical track

  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical components and control systems on production equipment.
  • Execute electrical inspections, testing, and PM; uphold electrical safety and lockout/tagout.
  • Work with motors, sensors, drives, PLCs, and control panels; install, wire, and test new controls.
  • Read/maintain electrical schematics and documentation with strong attention to detail.
  • Grow into PLC and robotic programming/troubleshooting; bend/install conduit as needed.
  • Identify equipment voltage (120V–24,900V) and place systems in an electrically safe condition.

Mechanical track

  • Deep-clean machinery and components; remove/reinstall parts as required.
  • Oil and lubricate moving parts to spec.
  • Repair/replace bearings, belts, chains, gear assemblies, and similar components.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues; assist with rebuilds and overhauls.

Schedule & travel

  • 2nd and 3rd shift availability required.
  • Plant shutdowns typically occur on weekends and holidays.
  • Minimal travel.

Qualifications

  • Industrial or electrical maintenance experience preferred.
  • Welding, fabrication, plumbing, or pipefitting experience preferred.
  • Hydraulic/pneumatic systems experience preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with willingness to learn required.

Education & skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational/community college coursework preferred.
  • Analytical and problem-solving strength; set realistic repair timelines for production.
  • Clear written and verbal communication; effective independently and on a team.
  • Blueprint/schematic reading and accurate tape-measure use.

Training & certifications

  • Ongoing trainings and webinars to stay current.
  • Ability to obtain certifications (welding, crane, backflow preventer, hydraulic).

Tools & tech

  • Basic hand tools; battery/electric/air tools.
  • Saws, drills, grinders, torches, welders, pipe threaders.
  • Forklift, aerial lift, overhead hoist.
  • Electrical testing equipment (electrical-focused roles).
  • Software: Microsoft Office Suite, Indusoft, SAP.

Environment & physical demands

  • Work at heights on aerial lifts and catwalks with PPE.
  • Operate in dusty/dirty areas and confined spaces with PPE.
  • Potential heat near molten iron/hot castings and winter cold outdoors.
  • Fast-paced, production-focused setting.
  • Prolonged standing/walking; climb stairs/ladders; bend, stretch, push, pull, pinch, kneel.
  • Visual inspection of parts and machines; lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
