Senior Project Technician
Position Summary
The Senior Project Technician is a highly skilled, multi-craft maintenance professional responsible for leading complex maintenance projects, equipment installations, and continuous improvement initiatives within a manufacturing, warehouse, or industrial environment. This role combines advanced mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting expertise with project leadership to ensure equipment reliability, operational efficiency, and minimal downtime.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and execute maintenance-related projects including equipment installations, upgrades, retrofits, and facility improvements
- Troubleshoot and repair complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
- Perform advanced diagnostics on automated equipment, PLC-controlled systems, and production machinery
- Plan, coordinate, and support preventative and predictive maintenance programs
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals to support repairs and installations
- Serve as a technical resource and mentor to maintenance technicians and junior team members
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and leadership teams to improve equipment performance and reliability
- Ensure all work is completed in compliance with safety standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements
- Utilize CMMS/ERP systems to document work orders, track maintenance activities, and manage parts inventory
- Support root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions to prevent recurring issues
- Assist with vendor coordination, contractor oversight, and project timelines
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; technical degree or certification preferred
- 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing, distribution, or automated environment
- Strong multi-craft experience (mechanical, electrical, hydraulics, pneumatics)
- Experience with PLC troubleshooting (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.) preferred
- Proven ability to lead projects and work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong understanding of preventative maintenance and reliability best practices
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings
- Experience using CMMS or ERP systems for maintenance tracking
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
