A day in the life in Avon, OH
You start the morning on the manufacturing floor at Cutting Dynamics, part of Re:Build Manufacturing, with a quick production huddle. You scan machining KPIs, verify that shipping commitments are on track, and walk the CNC cells to check safety, tooling status, and machine utilization. Midday, you coordinate a planned maintenance window, resolve a bottleneck flagged in an operating report, and partner with programming, quality, and maintenance to fine-tune a critical aerospace job. By afternoon, you’re updating the production schedule, motivating the team toward on-time delivery, and closing the loop on corrective actions that reduce downtime and boost first-pass yield.
What you will own
- Keep production and shipping schedules on target; adjust priorities to ensure on-time delivery.
- Review production and operating reports; drive swift resolution of operational or maintenance issues.
- Plan and schedule facility maintenance and repairs to minimize disruption.
- Uphold safety standards by routinely auditing equipment and the overall facility.
- Inspire and coach operators to meet goals for safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
- Champion corporate policies, including safety programs and Equal Employment Opportunity compliance.
- Oversee CNC machining operations to meet aerospace quality, safety, and delivery requirements.
- Partner closely with machinists, programmers, quality, and maintenance to maximize machine utilization, improve process efficiency, and reduce downtime.
- Track machining metrics, tooling needs, and workflow execution to ensure consistent production of high-precision components.
What you bring
- STEM degree and 4+ years in a manufacturing or industrial maintenance supervisory role (preferred).
- Background in CNC machining strongly preferred: machining processes, tooling, workholding, blueprint reading, GD&T, and aerospace-grade quality expectations.
- Demonstrated success leading machining teams, coordinating production schedules, and troubleshooting manufacturing challenges.
- Ability to interpret business publications, technical procedures, and government regulations.
- Strong math capability, including algebra and geometry.
- Hands-on problem solving with multiple concrete variables in real-world conditions.
- Computer proficiency across word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
- Comfort working in a moderate-to-loud environment; ability to regularly lift and move up to 25 lbs.
- Track record of fostering safety, accountability, and operational excellence.
