Senior Machine Maintenance Specialist

Position Summary

The Senior Machine Maintenance Specialist supports all production equipment within the facility and partners closely with Engineering on machine-related projects. This role leads maintenance best practices, drives equipment reliability, and provides advanced technical support while coordinating efforts with Plant Maintenance and cross-functional teams.

Essential Functions

  • Uphold all safety standards and promote a safe working environment.

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair production equipment (electrical and mechanical).

  • Work with CNC and PLC-controlled machinery; troubleshoot electrical systems and work within control panels as an Arc Flash–certified technician.

  • Read and interpret diagrams, schematics, and equipment specifications.

  • Modify, monitor, or write PLC ladder logic; create electrical drawings and programs for updated equipment.

  • Install electrical, air, and data drops for machinery.

  • Coordinate with outside contractors and verify the accuracy of completed work.

  • Design and implement electrical circuits and technology upgrades to support production needs.

  • Develop and improve preventive maintenance schedules.

  • Perform equipment calibration and support modifications, upgrades, overhauls, and root-cause failure analyses.

  • Maintain work logs, ensure 5S compliance, and support ISO 13485 requirements.

  • Train junior team members on maintenance standards and procedures.

  • Initiate improvement projects to enhance production performance.

  • Manage the purchase of parts, tools, and supplies through ERP systems.

  • Contribute to annual budget planning and work flexible hours as needed.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Self-starter with strong hands-on skills; able to work independently or as part of a team.

  • Detail-oriented, accurate, and able to manage time effectively.

  • Prior experience with CNC and PLC-controlled equipment.

  • Proficiency with MS Office.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills for CNC manufacturing equipment.

  • Ability to interpret blueprints, manuals, and wiring diagrams.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Forklift and OSHA safety training.

Education

  • Associate degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.

Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in equipment maintenance.
