Mechanical Piping Systems Journeylevel Technician

Build, join, and perfect the pipelines behind advanced automation

Work location: Rochester, NY

Imagine stepping into a facility where each project is different—a custom skid this month, a specialized machine next. As a journeylevel piping pro at Re:Build Optimation, you’ll turn drawings into robust, reliable systems that keep our customers’ operations running. Backed by Re:Build Manufacturing’s technology‑forward platform and strong operations, your craft helps restore and grow American manufacturing.

Your mission

From first cut to final inspection, you own the quality of every joint:

  • Select and use the right tool for each cut—hand tools, pipe cutters, cutting torches, or a pipe cutting machine
  • Assemble tubes, fittings, and non‑metallic attachments to print
  • Execute joints via threading, soldering, brazing, or cemented connections
  • Inspect piping and machinery to identify malfunctions before they become downtime
  • Operate material handling equipment to lift and position pipe, supports, and heavy machinery safely
  • Partner with engineers, designers, programmers, planners, PMs, and customers to align on scope and quality
  • Live our safety culture—adhere to NFPA 70E; join toolbox talks and safety audits; stop and correct hazards
  • Lead by example: mentor junior teammates and uphold high craftsmanship standards
  • Pitch in on related duties to keep projects moving

What it takes to succeed

  • Hands‑on pipefitting background with blueprint reading, plumbing code knowledge, and trade math
  • Precision mindset—detail orientation and accuracy
  • Strong communicator who collaborates well with clients and cross‑functional partners
  • Physically capable of climbing/working at heights, entering confined spaces, and lifting/moving heavy items
  • Comfortable working in hot, cold, and all‑weather conditions
  • English reading/writing; basic computer and communication proficiency
  • Regular full‑time role on a 40‑hour day schedule; able to flex for overtime and occasional travel
