Industrial Maintenance Electrician – Electromechanical Systems

Location: St. Charles, IL

Schedule: 1st Shift, Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.

Compensation: $38.15 – $47.02 per hour

A day in this role

You arrive on first shift and review the CMMS backlog to line up preventive tasks and any urgent corrective work. After lockout/tagout, you move through the floor—inspecting drives and motors, checking sensors, and tackling PMs that keep production stable. When a line trips, you trace the fault through schematics, test with a multimeter, and bring equipment back online, documenting labor and parts in Pactiv’s CMMS before moving on. Throughout the day, you collaborate with operators, follow local and state electrical codes, and uphold Pactiv’s safety and environmental programs.

What you’ll handle

  • Execute preventive and corrective electrical maintenance to sustain uptime and extend asset life
  • Adhere to Pactiv safety standards: electrical safety, LOTO, PPE, ladder, machine/tool, and powered vehicle practices
  • Plan, record, and close work using Pactiv’s computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)
  • Install, repair, and commission electrical systems and equipment—major and minor projects
  • Troubleshoot across electromechanical domains: drive trains, hydraulics, vacuum systems, and heat transfer components
  • Apply precision tools and instruments such as multimeters, stethoscopes, micrometers, and other diagnostic devices
  • Perform electrical tasks in compliance with local and state building and safety codes
  • Complete other assigned maintenance duties supporting safe, cost-effective operations

What you bring

  • 5+ years of related industrial electrical experience
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude with proven troubleshooting skills across electrical and mechanical equipment
  • Comfort with basic computer tasks and CMMS usage
  • Strong problem-solving and communication abilities; able to work independently and within a team
  • Associate degree or Electrical Engineering Certificate preferred

Work environment and physical demands

  • Regular standing and walking; frequent talking and hearing to coordinate with team members
  • Frequent use of hands/fingers to handle tools, parts, and controls; reaching, climbing, stooping, and bending as needed
  • Occasional pushing/pulling with hands or arms; kneeling or crouching
  • Ability to lift and move up to 20 lbs regularly and up to 50 lbs occasionally
  • Close vision and color differentiation required
  • Operate effectively with minimal supervision; maintain a positive, cooperative attitude
  • Consistently high noise levels (above 85 dB); work near moving mechanical equipment and lift trucks
  • Exposure to paper-converting dust; occasional fumes/vapors or hazardous products (e.g., degreasers, silicone sprays)
  • Ambient temperature and humidity may increase during summer months

Core proficiencies

  • Reading and interpreting electrical schematics
  • Experience with 120/208/240/480 VAC systems
