Drive the Northeast with Dexter
Picture this: you start your day at Dexter’s distribution hub in Round Lake, NY, complete a quick pre-trip, and roll out in an automatic Freightliner sleeper hauling a 48' or 53' flatbed. You’re headed to loyal Dexter customers across the Northeast—often within NH, MA, CT, and ME—delivering trailer and trailer products that keep their operations moving. There’s no tarping and only minimal strapping, and you’re home most nights with just one overnight per week.
Your compensation combines miles, drop, and hourly pay, with weekly totals of approximately 1800–2000 miles.
What a day looks like
- Run a dedicated local/regional route delivering Dexter products safely and on time.
- Document the amount and type of cargo for each delivery.
- Stay in close contact with dispatch, reporting any road incidents and following accident procedures.
- Monitor road and weather conditions; anticipate traffic congestion and adjust accordingly.
- Comply with all traffic laws and company safety practices.
- Perform thorough pre- and post-trip inspections and record any defects.
- Maintain accurate driver logs and required documentation.
- Report serious mechanical issues promptly to the right team members.
- Plan rest breaks and take special precautions to ensure safe operation throughout the trip.
What you bring
- 21+ years of age.
- Valid Class A CDL; minimum 1 year of experience (including manual transmission experience).
- Flatbed experience preferred.
- Proven experience as a commercial truck driver with a clean driving record (no DWI/DUI in the last 3 years).
- Ability to drive long hours and travel regularly.
- Solid knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations.
- Proficiency with DOT Medical Card requirements; High School diploma or GED.
