We are hiring an Instrumentation & Controls Field Technician to support our client onsite in Bridgman, MI. This is a full-time, long-term contract role based at the client location.
A day in your life
You arrive at the plant ready to ensure critical instrumentation is precise and dependable. Your morning starts with calibrating electronic, electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic process instrumentation, then checking microprocessor-controlled radiation monitoring systems and electronic nuclear instrumentation systems. You’ll:
- Perform inspections, testing, troubleshooting, repair, and calibration across plant I&C assets.
- Use computers and software to set up, monitor, and troubleshoot wireless networks, servers, and other networked systems.
- Calibrate and test pneumatic/electronic transmitters, indicators, converters, and switches; verify PA and telephone communication systems; and service heat trace circuits and trace control units.
- Repair alarm modules, electronic and pneumatic controllers, microprocessor-based recorders, and control relays.
- Analyze, test, and repair solid-state reactor protection systems, rod control systems, and rod position indicator systems.
- Implement design changes on instrumentation: wiring modifications, cable testing, wire terminations, print updates, and installation of piping, tubing, and fittings.
- Partner with engineers and vendor reps to collect data, troubleshoot, adjust, repair, and test complex specialized equipment and systems.
- Report any errors, damage, out-of-spec readings, or abnormal conditions immediately.
- Support Engineering with input and verification for Test Procedure development.
- Collaborate with Planning to review and walk down work packages.
About you
- Associate degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, or equivalent education and experience.
- Two years of experience in Instrumentation & Controls or a closely related discipline.
- Comfort reading general arrangement and electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, and flow diagrams.
- CPR/AED certification.
- Be able to pass criminal background, drug/alcohol screen (including medical and recreational marijuana and CBD products), and employment testing.
- Eligible to be qualified to work within the radiological controlled area.

Compensation & benefits
We are committed to transparency and equity. The base pay for this role is estimated at $30/hour to $45/hour, dependent on experience, qualifications, and skills.
