About the Role

As the Plant EHS Compliance and Risk Leader, you will set the safety strategy and bring it to life on the production floor. Your mission is to build and sustain a workplace that meets or exceeds all Federal, State, and Local industrial standards while empowering people to work safely every day.

A Day in the Life

Your morning begins with a quick scan of overnight reports and leading indicators. You prepare a brief with operations, maintenance, and HR to align on priorities. Before lunch, you deliver targeted training developed with our training team, reinforcing Human Performance principles through hands-on tools and event learning teams. In the afternoon, you oversee a root-cause investigation of a recordable injury, driving corrective and preventive actions and ensuring follow-up is completed. Later, you chair the employee Safety Committee to elevate concerns and celebrate wins. You finish the day aligning with our contracted plant security provider on protocols and upcoming drills.

What You Will Own

  • Design, implement, and sustain EHS policies, procedures, and programs that comply with OSHA, EPA, and state-specific regulations.
  • Partner with the training department to build engaging safety learning that ensures a safe, secure work environment.
  • Lead investigations of work-related illnesses and injuries; implement corrective actions and verify effectiveness.
  • Champion Human Performance principles using training, practical tools, and event learning teams.
  • Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and HR to resolve safety concerns and drive continuous improvement.
  • Support Worker’s Compensation claims for the plant by coordinating documentation and return-to-work efforts.
  • Organize and facilitate the employee Safety Committee to amplify frontline participation.
  • Plan and execute audits to identify hazards; define corrective or preventive measures and track closure.
  • Oversee plant security activities—communicate with and direct our security company to maintain site protection.
  • Manage environmental responsibilities, including hazardous materials, air permits, and required reporting.

Qualifications

  • BS in safety, industrial hygiene, environmental discipline, or related field with 5+ years of EHS experience in a relevant setting.
  • Preferred certifications: CIH, CSP, and/or CHP.
  • Proficient with word processing and spreadsheet software; strong data acumen.
  • Deep knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and state regulations.
  • Hands-on experience with hazardous materials management, air permitting, and environmental reporting.
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities; strong team orientation.
  • Comfort working under pressure with the ability to prioritize competing deadlines.
  • Capable of responding to emergencies and working flexible hours when required.
