Endodontist

Seeking a team-oriented, professional Endodontist who demonstrates strong communication skills, organization, and a service-minded approach. The Endodontist will deliver specialty endodontic care, use clinical expertise to diagnose and manage pulpal and periapical disease, develop individualized treatment plans, and collaborate with referring clinicians, clinical staff, and the dental laboratory to provide high-quality patient outcomes.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform comprehensive endodontic evaluations, including review of medical history, clinical examination, pulp vitality testing, and oral cancer screening where appropriate.
  • Obtain, interpret, and document diagnostic imaging, including periapical radiographs and cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT), to inform diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Provide the full scope of endodontic treatment: non-surgical root canal therapy, endodontic retreatment, vital pulp therapy, and management of dental trauma and endodontic infections.
  • Perform endodontic microsurgery and apicoectomy procedures when indicated, using an operating microscope and microsurgical techniques.
  • Utilize contemporary endodontic technologies and techniques, including rotary/reciprocating instrumentation, apex locators, irrigation protocols, obturation materials, and bioceramic sealers.
  • Coordinate care and treatment sequencing with referring general dentists, specialists, and the dental laboratory to ensure appropriate restorative and prosthetic outcomes.
  • Prescribe medications and adjunctive therapies as indicated and maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation, treatment notes, and coding.
  • Provide clear patient education on diagnosis, treatment options, prognosis, and post-operative instructions, ensuring informed consent and patient-centered care.
  • Adhere to infection control, sterilization, and occupational health and safety protocols in accordance with regulatory and professional standards.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, case review, staff meetings, and continuing education to maintain best practices in endodontics.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from an accredited dental school.
  • Postgraduate specialty training in Endodontics from an accredited endodontic residency program.
  • Active and unrestricted license to practice dentistry in the state of employment New York or eligibility to obtain such a license.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification.
  • Proven clinical competency in root canal therapy, endodontic retreatment, and endodontic surgical procedures.
  • Proficiency with digital radiography, CBCT interpretation, operating microscope use, and common practice management systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a commitment to collaborative, patient-centered care.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Board certification or board eligibility in Endodontics.
  • Prior clinical experience in a specialty endodontic practice or multidisciplinary dental setting.
  • Experience managing complex endodontic cases, trauma cases, and medically compromised patients.
  • Familiarity with digital workflow and coordination with dental laboratories for restorative planning.
