Overview
A manufacturing client in the Lafayette area is looking for a skilled Material Planner to manage purchasing, supplier coordination and material flow to production. This role ensures the production lines stay supplied without interruption and requires strong communication, analytical ability and comfort working cross-functionally.
What You’ll Do
• Create and manage purchase orders using inventory data to maintain required stock
• Keep all inbound materials flowing to production while avoiding shortages or excess
• Communicate directly with suppliers and logistics partners to ensure on-time delivery
• Perform research, inventory reviews and cross-department coordination
• Conduct and analyze root-cause investigations for supply chain issues
• Track, analyze and report key performance metrics
• Support continuous improvement, safety initiatives and 5S expectations
What You Need
• Associate degree in a related field preferred
• At least 3 years of experience in purchasing, materials planning or supply chain
• Automotive industry background is a plus
• Proficiency in Excel, Word and basic MRP systems
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to interpret data, solve problems and work with both structured and variable processes
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs frequently and up to 50 lbs occasionally
