ISBM/IBM Process and Automation Engineer

Location: St. Louis, Missouri

Do you love cracking tough process problems, tuning oven profiles to perfection, and watching OEE climb because of decisions you made on the floor? At Pretium Packaging, we’re looking for a hands-on engineer to own process stability and continuous improvement across our molding operations.

Our story

Since 1992, Pretium has delivered injection‑blow molded plastic containers to leading brand owners across the U.S. and Canada. With 20 manufacturing sites, we pair high‑performance packaging with superior quality, value, and service.

What challenge will you take on?

  • Launch and validate equipment: start-ups, loop checks, calibrations, and troubleshooting to confirm proper operation.
  • Respond to urgent work orders; investigate software and hardware faults; verify performance post-fix.
  • Lead the installation of new systems, ensuring specification alignment and safety compliance for teams and vendors.
  • Build quality control plans with clear gauging methods and inspection cadence.
  • Enable smooth project launches via tooling changes, setups, and program tuning.
  • Attack process upsets; provide alternatives to protect schedules and maintain product quality.
  • Redesign software and system circuitry when needed to achieve project goals.
  • Recommend enhancements that improve safety and reliability on new equipment.
  • Interrogate daily check sheets; correct inaccuracies and drive corrective actions.
  • Ensure changeovers are on time and executed correctly.
  • Confirm preventive maintenance occurs as planned and is documented accurately.
  • Champion safe operations and strong housekeeping.
  • Verify weekly setup sheets for all lines; pursue deviations to resolution.
  • Lead root-cause investigations to eliminate product quality issues.
  • Diagnose equipment breakdowns; rebuild or replace components.
  • Own machine setups end-to-end: align/install molds; tune cycles, air pressure, and water temperature; position labelers; changeover/adjust reamers and trim stations; configure material inspection; sequence timing across operations.
  • Coordinate production schedules for maximum efficiency.
  • Implement line improvements that raise productivity and product quality.
  • Establish best‑efficiency parameters for new molds and tooling.

What you’ll need to succeed

  • BS or AS in mechanical/plastics engineering (or related).
  • Reheat blow process and automation experience.
  • Experience with Aoki (ISBM/IBM/IM), Uniloy (IBM), and Zhongya (IM) platforms.
  • Proven root cause analysis and troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficiency in setting oven profiles.
  • Experience with infeed and outfeed conveyor systems.
  • Leadership, sound judgment, and the ability to mobilize project teams.
  • Strong organization, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Lean Manufacturing training/experience.
  • Ability to travel and conduct training across the region as needed.
