Precast Infrastructure CAD Detailer

Step into the role

From your first day, you’ll translate design intent into precise documentation that keeps pre-cast structures moving from concept to fabrication. You’ll prepare shop tickets and shop cards using computer-assisted drafting tools, produce erection drawings for basic structures under the guidance of the Engineer Lead, and keep the design team supported in their day-to-day work.

A day in this role

  • Open the project package, read erection drawings and details, and plot out what’s needed for production.
  • Sync with the Project Lead to confirm priorities for shop card detailing and review erection details together.
  • Develop shop cards in AutoCAD (or comparable CAD/modeling software), adhering to standard detailing practices.
  • Scrub and refine shop cards, then submit them to the Project Lead for verification of correctness.
  • Apply red-line markups from Project Lead check prints to keep documentation accurate and current.
  • Detail Steel Cards based on sketches or markups provided by Project Designers or Design Engineers.
  • Prepare erection drawings for basic structures under the supervision of the Engineer Lead.

What you’ll bring

  • Comfort working in CAD software; proficiency with AutoCAD.
  • Attention to standard detailing practices and a methodical approach to drafting.
  • Collaborative communication with Project Leads, Designers, and Engineers.

Qualifications

  • Education: Associate’s degree (2-year) in Design Drafting or a related field preferred.
  • Experience: Less than a year of prior or related experience required. An equivalent combination of related experience and education may substitute for a degree.

The impact

Your accuracy fuels fabrication. Each drawing you scrub, every red-line you incorporate, and each shop card you complete keeps critical infrastructure projects moving forward.
