A Day in the Life

Your morning may start with a planned preventive maintenance round—inspecting propane and diesel lift trucks, checking fluids, brakes, steering, and critical safety items. Midday brings a call from production: a truck is down on the floor. You arrive, quickly troubleshoot electrical or hydraulic issues, and get the unit back online to minimize downtime. In the afternoon, you might pull a transmission, swap worn components, or document work performed with precise service notes. Throughout, you communicate clearly with your manager about repair priorities and parts needs while following OSHA and company safety protocols.

What You’ll Do

  • Diagnose, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on propane and diesel forklifts
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and fuel system faults
  • Conduct routine inspections to ensure equipment is safe and ready for operation
  • Repair or replace engines, transmissions, brakes, steering systems, and related components
  • Maintain accurate service logs and maintenance records
  • Comply with OSHA and company safety standards at all times
  • Respond quickly to breakdowns to reduce production downtime
  • Provide clear repair recommendations and status updates to management

Qualifications

  • Proven background as a forklift or heavy equipment mechanic
  • Hands-on experience with propane and diesel forklifts (required)
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
  • Ability to read and interpret service manuals and schematics
  • Valid driver’s license; forklift certification a plus
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in warehouse or outdoor environments
  • Detail-oriented with strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities

Preferred

  • Trade school or technical certification in mechanical repair
  • Experience across multiple forklift brands
  • Welding or light fabrication experience

  • 401(k) with 4% company match
  • Company Holidays + Jewish Paid Holidays
  • 5 Sick Days (accrued annually)
