Join the Thermal & Specialized Solutions Business as a Plant Support Engineer at the Chemours Corpus Christi Plant in Ingleside, TX. You’ll report to the Manufacturing Technology Manager and partner closely with Operations, Maintenance, and Technology to keep our assets safe, reliable, and efficient.

A day in this role

By mid-morning you’ve closed out a root cause review on a pressure relief valve, loaded updated inspection frequencies into SAP, and walked the unit with mechanics to verify a new maintenance procedure. After lunch, you coach operators on predictive checks, update MIQA criticality justifications with spare-part strategies, and consult on a small capital scope to align with ASME/API standards. Before heading out, you scan OEE trends, prioritize data-driven fixes for chronic downtime, and prep weekend coverage for a planned startup.

What you will do

  • Provide mechanical expertise to troubleshoot, maintain, and modify operating equipment and facilities.
  • Deliver hands-on technical troubleshooting and training for operations and maintenance teams.
  • Ensure project work meets specifications, engineering standards, and quality assurance requirements.
  • Lead PSM criticality assessments to drive MIQA deliverables, including critical spares, SAP data accuracy, inspection plans and frequencies, and maintenance procedures.
  • Analyze equipment trends, history, and uptime to recommend improvements that minimize life-cycle cost across equipment classes.
  • Lead and participate in Safety, Reliability, and Quality investigations.
  • Engage in maintenance and reliability networks; share best practices and lessons learned.
  • Perform FMEA and develop equipment maintenance plans, including operator/mechanic checks and predictive preventive maintenance (PPM).
  • Support both cost and capital projects—scope development, justification, and coordination of new/modified facilities.
  • Continuously advance your technical expertise through training, seminars, and professional organizations.
  • Provide shift/weekend coverage for start-ups, tests, maintenance turnarounds, and other non-routine work.

Qualifications

Required

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering (or closely related field) from an ABET-accredited university.
  • 2+ years of relevant industrial/manufacturing experience in fixed equipment (intern/co-op experience may count).
  • Knowledge of fixed equipment principles: piping, pressure vessels, valves, welding; depth scales with experience.
  • Proven, data-driven problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.
  • Strong verbal and written communication; translate customer needs into actionable solutions.
  • High initiative, adaptability, and a strong safety mindset to drive timely project execution.
  • Skilled at managing multiple priorities, short timelines, and emergencies.
  • Willing and able to wear required PPE (steel-toe boots, hard hat, Nomex, eye protection, respirators, etc.).

Preferred

  • Progressive experience in manufacturing or industrial environments (3+ to 11+) or military equivalent.
  • Strong foundation in maintenance and reliability best practices, including work management processes.
  • Materials science fundamentals (selection and properties).
  • Experience with NDT, welding, fabrication, and coordinating third-party vendors.
  • Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards: ASME BPVC Section VIII; ASME B31 Piping Codes; API (e.g., API 510, API 570).
  • RCFA and FMEA proficiency.
  • Data analysis, statistical interpretation, and failure investigation techniques.
  • Engineering design standards and cost/capital project justification.
  • Experience in PSM or OSHA high hazard process environments.
  • Familiarity with SAP or similar enterprise systems.
  • Previous experience working with SAP or related software.
