Maintenance Technician - Industrial Sewing Equipment

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Maintenance Technician to support our manufacturing operations. This position plays a critical role in ensuring our facility, production equipment, fabrication machinery, and industrial sewing equipment operate safely, reliably, and efficiently. The successful candidate must combine broad industrial maintenance capabilities with specialized, hands-on knowledge of industrial sewing machines used to fabricate geotextiles, reinforced vinyl, and other industrial textile products.

Key Responsibilities

Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on production equipment, facility systems, fabrication machinery, material-handling equipment, and industrial sewing machines.

• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, motor, sensor, control, and servo-drive systems to minimize downtime and support production schedules.
• Maintain and repair industrial sewing machines used to fabricate geotextiles, reinforced vinyl, turbidity barriers, containment products, and other industrial textile products.
• Diagnose and correct industrial sewing machine issues involving hook and needle timing, needle-bar alignment, thread tension, skipped stitches, stitch formation, feed synchronization, presser-foot mechanisms, material tracking, motors, belts, bearings, shafts, gears, and controls.
• Service walking-foot, compound-feed, long-arm, double-needle, and other commercial or industrial sewing equipment.
• Conduct routine equipment inspections and maintain preventive maintenance schedules, service records, repair histories, parts usage, and critical spare-parts inventory.
• Assist with installation, setup, calibration, testing, relocation, and improvement of manufacturing, sewing, and facility equipment.
• Collaborate with sewing operators, Production, Operations, and Quality to resolve equipment concerns, improve machine performance, and train operators on proper setup, daily care, and early warning signs.
• Follow lockout/tagout and all company safety procedures, maintain organized work areas, and participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability, productivity, safety, and quality.

Qualifications:

Proven maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment, including broad mechanical and electrical troubleshooting responsibilities.

• Minimum three years of direct experience diagnosing, repairing, adjusting, timing, and maintaining industrial sewing machines is required.
• Demonstrated ability to diagnose and repair hook timing, needle-bar alignment, feed systems, tension assemblies, presser-foot mechanisms, servo motors, and stitch-formation issues is required.
• Experience servicing industrial sewing equipment used with geotextiles, reinforced PVC vinyl, coated fabrics, canvas, marine fabrics, or similar industrial textiles is strongly preferred.
• Ability to troubleshoot motors, bearings, gearboxes, drives, sensors, controls, production machinery, pneumatic systems, hydraulic systems, and facility equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, parts diagrams, and preventive maintenance instructions.
• Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, precision measuring tools, and diagnostic equipment; welding or light fabrication experience is a plus.
• Strong root-cause troubleshooting, organization, communication, and prioritization skills, with the ability to work independently and respond effectively to production needs.
