Swiss Machinist

• Setting up and operating a CNC Citizen Swiss 7-axis machine with Mitsubishi controls (reading out in G&M code). Series/model numbers are A20s, L20s, and L32s.

• Materials: high nickel, Hastelloy, and Inconel are common metals – they are hard to cut metals.

• Parts/Components: these are proven parts.- Offsets/adjustments will be required but line edits/mods are not allowed. These are locked programs.

  • Parts are range from the size and length and diameter of a threading needle to the largest part being ½” in diameter and 6” long.

• Reference material: set up sheets, drawings/ballooned drawings, tools lists, BOMs, and routers are available. All are electronic.- Drawings/prints are inch.

  • GD&T is utilized – runout, total runout, circularity, true position, parallelism, cylindricity, straightness. GD&T knowledge and experience is critical. These features are inspected by hand as well.

• Setup times: 3-5 hours on average.- These are true set ups; there aren’t many changeovers.

• Cycle times: 3-6 minutes per part on average.

• Lot sizes: 500 parts per lot on average.

• Quality: inspection sheets are provided, outlining the feature, the tool to use, and the frequency. These model the ballooned prints.- The first and last pieces of lot are run on a CMM and then others are done at specific frequencies. This is done by hand and with CMMs. CMM experience is a plus. Setup directions and fixtures are available for the CMM.

  • Tolerances: +/- .0002”.
  • Surface finishes: 16ra.
  • Tools used: mics, indicators, CMM, pins, go/no go gauges, air gauges, air spindles, functional gauges.

• Performing operator level PM tasks like checking oil, coolant, and filling when needed.

• May operate a pallet jack – not cranes or forklifts. Parts are loaded/unloaded manually.
