Role snapshot
Join Westinghouse in Cranberry Township, PA (hybrid). You will report to the Manager, RVI Load Development & Analysis • Reactor Component Engineering. No relocation assistance is provided.
What you'll do
- Design, analyze, and qualify primary pressure boundary components for Westinghouse-designed nuclear plants, including the operating fleet and AP1000 reactors.
- Use finite element simulations (e.g., Ansys), closed-form engineering approaches, and Westinghouse internal analysis codes to substantiate design.
- Partner with component, system, and manufacturing leads to integrate subsystems and troubleshoot emergent design challenges.
- Build and maintain schedules with project managers and technical leads.
- Identify technical risks, propose mitigation, and drive closure.
- Apply relevant industry and regulatory codes, standards, and criteria (NRC/DOE/ASME) throughout the design lifecycle.
- Offer technical guidance and collaborate with national laboratories, sub-contractors, suppliers, fabricators, and customers.
- Support refueling outages on-site and remotely; be ready for 12-hour shifts and occasional overnight work when timelines are critical.
Minimum qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering required; Mechanical, Engineering Mechanics, or Aerospace preferred.
- 3+ years in component structural analysis or thermo-hydraulics.
Preferred/proficiency
- Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
- Professional Engineer (PE) License
Pay transparency
We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $69,200 to $86,500 per year.
