A day in the life at CARR Machine
Morning begins on the shop floor of our state-of-the-art Elk Grove Village facility. You review 2D drawings and CAD models, set your offsets, and bring a Haas or Fanuc-controlled VMC online. Robots and pallet changers keep the workflow moving while you dial in tool lengths, probe your workpiece, and watch the first chips fly. Throughout the shift, you refine programs, verify tolerances with gauges, calipers, and micrometers, and collaborate with teammates to push cycle times down and quality up.
What you’ll do
- Set up and operate CNC machines to manufacture precise components to specification.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD models to plan setups.
- Monitor machining operations and adjust feeds, speeds, and offsets for optimal performance.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot CNC equipment issues as they arise.
- Inspect finished parts for accuracy and finish using precision measuring tools.
- Partner with the team to improve processes and increase productivity.
- Keep work areas clean and safe, following company policies and best practices.
