Shift
SHIFT: 2nd
Day in the Life
On 2nd shift, you’ll arrive to a clean, organized finishing area and review the day’s work orders. You’ll set up and fine-tune a high-speed carton windowing line, load paperboard blanks and window film rolls, and calibrate adhesive systems and placement guides. As production ramps, you’ll sample product, verify registration, adhesion, and film placement, and dial in the run to hit target speeds with minimal waste. Throughout the shift, you’ll log counts, downtime, and scrap, partner closely with quality control and finishing teammates, and keep customer orders moving on schedule.
What You’ll Do
- Set up and adjust windowing machines for each job run.
- Load paperboard blanks and plastic window film; align to job specifications.
- Calibrate glue systems and placement guides for accuracy.
- Perform in-run quality checks on registration, adhesion, and film placement.
- Run at target speeds while meeting quality standards.
- Inspect for defects: misaligned windows, glue overflow, scratches, or wrinkles.
- Complete production and quality documentation: counts, downtime, and waste.
- Collaborate with QC and finishing teams to quickly resolve issues.
- Conduct routine preventive maintenance: cleaning, lubrication, part replacement.
- Troubleshoot minor mechanical or electrical issues to minimize downtime.
- Follow plant safety protocols, including lockout/tagout, PPE, and housekeeping.
- Work with feeders, packers, and helpers to maximize efficiency.
- Communicate with supervisors on status, materials, and mechanical needs.
- Support training for apprentices or new team members.
