Imagine this scenario:
It’s Friday afternoon. Next week’s maintenance window is tight, production demand is high, and several assets are due for critical PMs. Because of your planning, every job package is complete, the permits are prepped, parts are staged, and contractors are booked. Monday starts smoothly—and ends with fewer surprises, lower costs, and better uptime.
About the Role
In this leadership role, you’ll weave preventive and predictive maintenance into a cohesive reliability strategy. Working closely with the Maintenance Team Leader, you’ll strengthen our CMMS, guide the maintenance team with clear plans, and collaborate across the plant to execute routine, predictive, and preventative tasks efficiently.
Outcomes You’ll Drive
- Higher labor productivity, reduced maintenance costs, and improved equipment reliability.
- Accurate work order data and equipment history that inform better decisions.
- A storeroom that functions as a high-service MRO center aligned to the schedule.
Core Responsibilities
- Champion the CMMS/EAM (Materials Management and Maintenance modules) to convert requests, manage work orders, update assets, allocate/reserve parts, and close work accurately.
- Create thorough job planning packages with step-by-step sequencing, labor estimates drawn from historical data, and the right permits (LOTO, hot work, confined space) identified upfront.
- Prepare the preliminary weekly schedule and lead the scheduling meeting with Department Managers, the Maintenance Manager, and the Production Planner to lock in priorities.
- Coordinate with Warehouse, Purchasing, Engineering, and vendors to line up special equipment, outside services, and on-time material delivery.
- Run inventory cost analyses to detect over/understock; set optimal stock levels; schedule and oversee cycle counts; and enforce storeroom policies and procedures.
- Generate and interpret KPIs—daily stock movement, due-in, past-due, monthly inventory accuracy, and MTBF—to enhance PM/PdM programs and planning quality.
- Approve and prioritize new work requests; verify details before work order creation; provide full cost estimates (labor, materials, outside services).
- Maintain a clear, accurate backlog to optimize plant priorities and manpower; deliver strong service levels supporting planned/scheduled maintenance.
- Visit jobs in progress to evaluate efficiency and effectiveness; feed updates into drawings, parts lists, and job steps as required.
- Initiate requisitions; apply purchasing procedures effectively; and coordinate support personnel, contractors, and equipment for upcoming work.
- Lead the MRO Materials Team and act as the point of contact for all MRO materials management activities.
- Manage day-to-day storeroom operations and ensure CMMS/EAM data integrity for vendor info, pricing, equipment hierarchy, PO numbers, and locations.
- Ensure materials are reserved, staged, and delivered to align with the maintenance schedule and daily manufacturing needs.
- Share and standardize planning practices by exchanging information with Planners at other facilities.
Continuous Improvement Mindset
