Summary
The Database Administrator is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust database solutions that support business applications and requirements. This role provides technical leadership for database-related projects, ensuring data integrity, optimal performance, and high availability. As a Database Administrator, you will resolve complex database issues, provide guidance to application support teams, and offer training on database-related software products. You will also manage and support database environments across various platforms, performing tasks such as installation, upgrades, monitoring, and tuning. This role demands a blend of technical expertise and leadership to support a dynamic, multi-platform database infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:

Database Design and Development:
- Design and develop databases that align with business requirements and objectives.
- Analyze database requirements and explore alternative design options to meet those needs effectively.
- Lead database application solutions, providing technical expertise and innovative approaches.

Database Support and Problem Resolution:
- Diagnose and resolve complex issues related to database services, minimizing downtime and ensuring reliable performance.
- Provide training and assistance to application support teams in effectively using database and related software.

Environment Management and Monitoring:
- Oversee the physical development, test, and production database environments, ensuring seamless deployment and performance.
- Install, configure, and upgrade database software and related applications, adhering to best practices in database management.

Performance Tuning and Optimization:
- Monitor databases continuously to ensure optimal performance, applying tuning techniques as necessary.
- Perform regular backups, implement recovery protocols, and proactively address any potential data integrity issues.

Technical Support and Collaboration:
- Collaborate closely with project teams, providing database expertise, technical guidance, and support to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Act as a resource for technical troubleshooting and provide support for database applications across various platforms.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Database Administrator or in a similar role, with hands-on expertise in database design, management, and troubleshooting.
- Strong knowledge of database platforms (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL) and proficiency in performance tuning, backup, recovery, and database monitoring.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide technical leadership and guidance to support teams and project stakeholders.
Location Requirement:
The ideal candidate should reside in the Metro Atlanta, GA area. While this position is primarily remote, there may be occasional requirements to report in person as needed for team meetings or project-related tasks.
