When your shift begins, you dive into the plant floor—watching equipment run, listening for irregularities, and tracing symptoms back to true root causes. You’ll dismantle assemblies to access worn components, examine parts for defects, adjust control instruments and moving elements, then rebuild and test until performance meets spec. Your focus spans both break-fix and preventative maintenance, and you’ll recondition and repair machine tools to keep production humming.
As the day unfolds, you’ll source the right parts and supplies, update CMMS histories with precise notes, and deploy predictive maintenance tools to capture performance data before problems escalate. You’ll also troubleshoot control systems—resolving software, hardware, and configuration issues—to restore uptime quickly.
Hands-on versatility matters here: set up and operate machining equipment (lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools) to fabricate or repair components; perform welding when needed. You model 5S and strong housekeeping, and you champion continuous improvement—driving processes that deliver measurable results and cost savings. You’ll mentor junior technicians, step into small-team leadership moments, and stretch into advanced tasks as part of your development. Safety is non‑negotiable: you follow all policies and procedures with strong situational awareness, always calling out and correcting unsafe conditions or behaviors.
Expect a highly active role: frequent standing and walking; regular use of hands and fingers; reaching; climbing and balancing (including on ladders or lifts); and entering confined spaces to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. You will regularly communicate in a loud factory environment and use close and color vision. Sitting occurs occasionally. From time to time, you’ll lift or move items over 50 pounds. Work may involve occasional exposure to outdoor weather and risk of electrical shock. Factory settings can be very loud, and you may encounter hazardous materials and greasy or slippery floors.
