Senior Marine Structural Fitter

Location: Pascagoula, MS

Compensation: $42/hour + $180/day per diem | Full-Time | Structural Steel & Shipbuilding

What a day looks like

You arrive at an industry-leading Gulf Coast shipyard where precision and pace drive the build of mission-ready vessels. Your shift begins by reviewing detailed drawings—metric and standard—mapping out cuts, bends, and assemblies. With a grinder in one hand and a framing square in the other, you shape plate and beam, align hull components, and lock them down so the structure holds true—from keel to deck. You move confidently between heights and tight compartments, always balancing productivity with an uncompromising safety mindset.

What you’ll handle

• Cut, grind, bend, and form steel plate and shapes to precise dimensions and angles.
• Interpret complex blueprints/templates to assemble and install structural ship sections.
• Operate trade tools: grinders, hand torches, hydraulic and ratchet jacks, chain falls, come‑alongs, framing squares, levels, and plumb bobs.
• Fit, align, and secure metal components for accurate, repeatable structural assemblies.
• Work safely at elevation, in confined spaces, and in varied weather across multiple shifts to meet production goals.
• Champion a strong safety culture and continuous improvement on every job.

What you bring

• 3–5 years of shipfitting or structural steel fabrication experience.
• Fluency in reading blueprints (metric and imperial) and understanding structural layouts.
• Proven mechanical aptitude and hands-on skill with fabrication equipment.
• Strong math, reading, and comprehension skills.
• Track record of safe, high-quality workmanship.

Preferred

• Advanced shipboard installation and structural alignment experience.
• Background in high-volume or military ship construction.
• Leadership potential and interest in mentoring others.
