Key duties and responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive pediatric dental care including preventive, restorative, and emergency services for infants, children, adolescents, and special needs patients.
- Perform routine exams, diagnostic assessments, cleanings, fluoride therapy, sealants, and patient/family oral health education focused on prevention.
- Deliver restorative care appropriate for pediatric patients: restorations, pulpotomies, stainless steel crowns, space maintainers, extractions, and management of dental trauma.
- Use behavior management techniques, protective stabilization, and, where appropriate, nitrous oxide or work with sedation teams to ensure patient safety and comfort.
- Create and present age-appropriate treatment plans and obtain informed consent from caregivers; document clinical findings and plans in accordance with HIPAA and state dental board standards.
- Collaborate with dental assistants, hygienists, administrative staff, and digital lab workflows to optimize case execution and turnaround for restorations and appliances.
- Adhere to infection control, safety protocols, and quality assurance processes.
Requirements:
- DMD or DDS from a CODA-accredited dental school.
- Active or eligible state dental license.
- Current CPR/BLS certification; DEA registration if applicable.
- Excellent communication skills and a patient- and family-focused approach.
Preferred qualifications:
- Postgraduate training in pediatric dentistry or significant clinical experience treating pediatric patients in a busy practice.
- Experience with behavior management techniques, nitrous oxide administration, and managing special needs patients.
- Proficiency with digital dentistry tools (intraoral scanners, digital imaging, CBCT).
- Spanish fluency or additional language skills are a plus.
