Industrial Power and Controls Assembly Technician

Step onto the Dayton assembly line and join a close-knit Operations team that trusts you to wire, build, and prove out electrical systems that outperform customer expectations. As our Industrial Power and Controls Assembly Technician, you’ll contribute to occasional Trillium model builds, complete general wiring, and drive end-of-line functional tests and troubleshooting. Your day, your craft

  • Kick off by reviewing electrical schematics, machine prints, and technical specs to plan clean, compliant installations.
  • Route and terminate 3-phase power and motor controls; integrate transformers, switches, sensors, transmitters, and 120 Vac/24 Vdc control circuits to NEC standards.
  • Assemble and verify logic/control circuits; support evaporative cooling tower components and resolve issues at the root cause.
  • Execute end-of-line functional testing; use a multimeter routinely and perform Hi-Pot (dielectric) tests when applicable.
  • Document test results, complete department paperwork and reports, and update systems using your intermediate computer skills.
  • Rotate across stations and lines as needs shift; work safely at heights with approved fall protection.
  • Collaborate with a supportive Team Leader and partner departments across the Dayton facility.

What you bring

  • Hands-on experience with 3-phase wiring, motors and motor controls, transformers, PLCs, single-phase 120 Vac and 24 Vdc control circuits, switches, sensors, and transmitters.
  • Fluency reading electrical diagrams, schematics, and blueprints.
  • At least 2 years of motors/controls maintenance and troubleshooting experience.
  • At least 2 years of wiring experience; PLC programming exposure is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code; unwavering commitment to safety and quality.
  • High attention to detail, with the ability to complete accurate paperwork and reports.

Team and schedule

You will report to a Team Leader on the BAC Dayton assembly line and work closely with multiple departments. This is a 24-hour operation; you can work any shift as production requires, and occasional travel may be needed.

WORKING CONDITIONS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Standing is to be expected up to 80% of the time. Additional activities include walking, reaching, bending, stooping, and sitting. Fine hand manipulation of controls is needed

as well as hand eye coordination to perform changes. Working hours can include any of three shifts and generally are scheduled for forty hours a week. Longer than 8 hour days and some weekend overtime is to be expected to adequately support production requirements and company initiatives. Working temperatures include both wide fluctuations within the plant as well as ambient outside temperatures.
