Job Overview:
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of all machinery and equipment, minimizing downtime, and maximizing productivity. This role requires strong technical knowledge, leadership abilities, and a proactive approach to maintenance planning and execution.
Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities:
1. Developing and implementing a comprehensive maintenance program to ensure the proper functioning and longevity of all machinery and equipment in the plastics manufacturing facility
2. Managing a team of maintenance technicians, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure effective maintenance operations
3. Conducting regular inspections and assessments to identify potential issues or areas for improvement
4. Planning and scheduling preventive maintenance tasks, equipment repairs, and upgrades to minimize downtime and optimize production efficiency
5. Coordinating with production teams to prioritize maintenance activities and minimize disruptions to manufacturing processes
6. Monitoring equipment performance, analyzing data, and implementing corrective actions to improve reliability and reduce breakdowns
7. Collaborating with external vendors and contractors for specialized repairs or equipment installations when necessary
8. Managing the maintenance budget, tracking expenses, and ensuring cost-effective procurement of spare parts and supplies
9. Ensuring compliance with safety regulations and promoting a culture of safety within the maintenance team and across the manufacturing facility
10. Maintaining accurate maintenance records, including work orders, equipment history, and inventory management
11. Other essential duties as assigned
Candidate Requirements:
1. Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field is preferred
2. Proven experience (5+ years) in maintenance management, preferably in a plastics manufacturing or similar industrial environment
3. Strong technical knowledge of plastics manufacturing machinery and equipment, including extruders, injection molding machines, conveyors, and related systems
4. Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team of maintenance technicians
Proficient in maintenance planning and scheduling, with the ability to prioritize tasks and allocate resources effectively
6. Knowledge of preventive maintenance strategies and reliability-centered maintenance principles
7. Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices in an industrial manufacturing setting
8. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure
9. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders
10. Proficient in using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and other relevant software
