What you’ll tackle
- Own the end-to-end design of punch press tooling—from temporary stations to sophisticated progressive dies with sensors and automation.
- Produce precise 3D models, drawings, and flat patterns in SolidWorks/LogoPress; Cadkey familiarity is a bonus.
- Prototype and test to prove out function, quality, and design intent.
- Interpret RFQs, CAD data, prints, and specs to meet technical and budget targets.
- Collaborate daily with programmers, EDM, CNC, press brake, quality, and toolroom to enable smooth production.
- Choose materials and components for durability, performance, and cost-effectiveness.
- Guide fabrication, approve requisitions, and dive into troubleshooting and root cause work.
- Incorporate customer feedback and engineering clarifications into refined releases.
- Keep documentation accurate across design, testing, and production phases.
What sets you up for success
- 5–7 years in tool & die design within a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks/LogoPress and mastery of blueprint reading with GD&T.
- Comfort with machining, stamping, and laser cutting processes.
- Analytical problem-solver; organized, detail-driven, and clear communicator.
- Mindset rooted in safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Preferred background
- BS in Engineering or equivalent combo: HS diploma plus a technical degree.
- Hands-on tooling design, prototyping, and production support experience.
- Knowledge of materials selection, standard tooling components, and manufacturing methods.
- Hands-on die building experience.
Physical demands
- Frequent standing, walking, and movement throughout the day.
- Lift 25 lbs routinely; up to 50 lbs occasionally.
- Adequate vision, depth perception, and dexterity for detailed design/inspection.
