Shape What Flows: A Day in the Life as an Injection Molding Tooling Specialist

You arrive to a clean, organized tool room and start your day reviewing scheduled mold PMs and overnight production notes. A preventative maintenance teardown is first up: disassemble, clean, inspect, measure to print, and reassemble a complex multi-cavity tool—verifying dimensional conformance and documenting work performed. Next, you collaborate with process and setup technicians to confirm a new mold installation is running to spec, separating process issues from mold or machine causes and making in-press adjustments as needed. Midday, you machine a replacement core on the mill and lathe, then use the grinder to finish. Later, you coordinate an outside vendor for specialty work, pull spare components from inventory, and close the loop by updating reports and ordering replacement parts.
