Quality Engineer/Technician - Shelby Township, Michigan 90-day Potential Contract-to-Hire role Pay Rate: $25.00-$42.00 per hour (based on proven work history)
Job Summary of the Quality Engineer/Technician: Our customer is seeking a HANDS-ON Quality Engineer/Technician with a strong background in metal parts. You'll make sure every part our customer ships meets the highest quality standards and specifications, working both independently and alongside our production and engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities of the Quality Engineer/Technician:
Inspect metal parts with calipers, micrometers, gauges, and CMM to verify conformance
Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventative actions
Develop and implement quality control procedures and work instructions
Partner with production and engineering to resolve issues and improve product quality
Audit production processes regularly to identify areas for improvement
Build and maintain quality metrics and reports to track performance and trends
Ensure compliance with all relevant quality standards and regulations
Train production personnel on quality control procedures and techniques
Manage gage calibration and calibration records, and maintain the quality lab
Qualifications of the Quality Engineer/Technician:
Associate or Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field
3+ years of hands-on quality engineering or technician experience in metal parts manufacturing
Knowledge of SPC, Six Sigma, and lean manufacturing tools
Proficiency with calipers, micrometers, and gauges
Experience with IATF-16949 and related qualitiy standards
Strong problem-solving skills and data-driven decision making
Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team
CMM Operation and programming experience - HIGHLY PREFERRED
