Shipping Operations & Receiving Lead (Export/NAFTA)

What you’ll tackle

Documentation & Compliance

  • Prepare packing slips, Bills of Lading, and export documents as needed.
  • Perform final inspection of all company shipping paperwork.
  • Match signed BOLs to Sales orders and finalize BOLs when required.
  • Prepare certifications per Sales order requests.
  • Maintain information regarding NAFTA for export activity.

Carrier & Cost Coordination

  • Contact carriers when freight is ready; provide driving directions to carriers who call.
  • Utilize freight tables to verify correct shipping costs.
  • Process all UPS/FedEx shipments via computer.
  • Schedule inbound freight from the mills.

Floor Operations

  • Organize the shipping floor and stage daily shipments.
  • Match paperwork with each shipment.
  • Assist with loading and unloading trucks.
  • Load and unload turnstiles for the 50” slitter and CTL.
  • Assist with packaging of “As Is” orders.

Receiving & Quality

  • Assist with receiving incoming freight.
  • Support receiving and recording of non-conforming material.

Cross-Functional Support

  • Assist the Sales department with shipping issues.
  • Help customers resolve document issues—reprint, correct, and email.
  • Assist the Invoicing Clerk when needed.
  • Help train new personnel.

Housekeeping & Extras

  • General housekeeping in accordance with Traffic/Shipping expectations—sweep and keep areas tidy.
  • Keep scrap skids organized and deliver to the processor when a truckload is collected.
  • Other Shipping/Receiving duties as assigned.

What you need to succeed

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 3+ years of related experience/training or equivalent combination.
  • Preferred proficiency with: tape measure, micrometer, calipers, crane, fork lift truck, bander, band cutters, and side loader.
