Thermal Process and Paintline Operator — Automotive Glass

Carlex is hiring experienced operators for two night-shift roles (12-hour, 3-2-2-3 rotation). Choose the path that fits your strengths—or bring cross-functional capability to both.

What you’ll do

Cattin Furnace (Bending) Operations

• Run glass bending operations to achieve top-quality parts
• Apply detailed Cattin parameter requirements; conduct parameter checks and spot breaker issues
• Use HMI and IP gages; read trends and heat activity to steer the process
• Perform routine quality checks: part quality, gaging, sag mapping, xenon light distortion
• Address convex issues proactively and respond rapidly when adjustments are needed
• Align with the Paint Room Operator to maintain a steady flow from Cutting to Bending
• Handle changeovers; understand windshield-to-bending-fixture relationships

Cutline & Paintroom Operations

• Locate and prepare screens; read and tape stencils properly
• Get screens production-ready via booting and inspection
• Select the correct paint; mix materials and verify viscosity
• Operate panel views; use the Kurt system for process control
• Load programs from disk to grinders and cutters
• Assist with changeovers; adjust and troubleshoot during production with support
• Change cutting wheels, springs, and grinding wheels
• Set up cups on the vacuum table; measure and adjust coolant levels
• Understand washer functions and ensure proper operation

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
• 2+ years of operator experience
• Ability to learn and follow procedures in a manufacturing setting
• Some computer knowledge

Physical demands & environment

• Lift and regularly carry 45–50 lbs; occasionally transport a 45–50 lb windshield 5–10 feet
• Raise/move objects between positions
• Frequent repetitive wrist/hand/finger motion; twisting and bending
• Extended standing on concrete
• Operate in extreme heat and humidity

Schedule & overtime

Night shift, 12 hours, rotating 3-2-2-3 schedule. Overtime may be required based on workload or projects, including weekends and holidays.
