Mission Systems Avionics Software Engineer
Your code will fly. Your decisions will shape the next generation of military avionics.
Location: Fort Worth, TX
Employment Type: Full-Time | 12-Month Contract
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 9/80A | 6:00 AM–3:30 PM
Compensation: $70.00–$120.00 per hour (commensurate with experience)
A Day in the Mission
Start your morning collaborating with systems and integration engineers to scope new capabilities for a military aircraft upgrade. Before lunch, translate high-level system needs into precise, testable software requirements. After a quick sync with test and V&V, you roll into hands-on embedded coding, static analysis, and hardware-in-the-loop runs to validate behavior against stringent performance and safety targets. You close the day by documenting traceability and preparing for tomorrow’s integration in the lab.

- Build strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams.
- Maintain rigorous traceability from requirements through test procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering or computing field.
- Applied knowledge of the full software development lifecycle, including requirements decomposition and test definition.
- Experience with static and dynamic test tools.
- Proficiency with multiple programming languages.
- Clear, concise communication skills; comfortable coordinating across organizations and disciplines.
- Proven collaboration with customers, internal teams, and external suppliers.
- Strong teamwork, interpersonal, and organizational abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Must be eligible to obtain a Security Clearance.
Preferred Experience
- C, C++, and/or C# in embedded contexts.
- Static/dynamic testing tools such as PC-Lint, LDRA Testbed, and VectorCAST.
- DOORS for requirements traceability and linking tests.
- Familiarity with military aerospace design and certification processes (e.g., DO-178 context).
- Hands-on requirements development and verification.
- Support for preliminary and detailed software or avionics system design.
- Integrating embedded software into complex avionics/aerospace systems.
- Collaboration on multidisciplinary military aviation programs.
