NPSS Propulsion Performance Systems Engineer (Lead)

A day in the life

You start your morning refining an NPSS cycle model, validating steady-state predictions and setting up a transient run to probe operability margins. By midday, you translate system-level needs into verifiable requirements in our MBSE environment and collaborate with controls, aerodynamics, and mechanical teams to decompose and allocate them. In the afternoon, you debug a model convergence issue, tune the thermodynamic deck, and brief stakeholders on performance trade-offs that influence design decisions from concept through qualification. Tomorrow, you’ll do it again—pushing the envelope of commercial and military propulsion.

What you will do

• Build, calibrate, and debug NPSS engine models to support performance and operability analyses.
• Execute steady-state and transient thermodynamic studies to inform architecture, control schedules, and margins.
• Apply MBSE practices to capture requirements and drive traceability from system objectives to component-level verifications.
• Partner closely across disciplines to integrate results and guide engine development decisions.

What you bring

• 4+ years analyzing gas turbine performance and operability.
• Hands-on NPSS expertise—building, refining, and troubleshooting models (not just reviewing others’ outputs).
• Depth in thermodynamic cycle analysis, steady-state and/or transient.
• Experience with MBSE and requirements decomposition.
• Proven success collaborating with multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
