Industrial Reliability & Controls Technician

What your day looks like
- Own expert-level troubleshooting and repair (break/fix) plus rigorous preventive maintenance across industrial equipment.
- Observe machines in operation to pinpoint root causes, disassemble to access faulty components, inspect for wear or defects, adjust mechanisms and instruments, replace/repair parts, and verify performance with electrical and mechanical tests.
- Recondition and repair machine tools as needed.
- Partner with the Planner/Scheduler to refine and optimize PM tasks and intervals.
- Source parts, supplies, and repair items; evaluate alternatives to improve cost-effectiveness and equipment reliability.
- Independently execute maintenance work in line with industry standards.
- Set up and operate machining equipment (lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools) to fabricate/repair parts; perform welding as required.
- Maintain 5S discipline and strong housekeeping.
- Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives, applying CI tools to drive process enhancements and cost savings.
- Mentor lower-level technicians and contribute technical leadership to project teams; share expert knowledge through training.
- Diagnose complex control systems, resolving sophisticated software, hardware, and configuration issues.
- Use predictive technologies to capture equipment performance data, analyze trends, and recommend actions.
- Keep records current, review CMMS history, and analyze asset data to inform decisions.
- Pursue on-the-job training and self-study to advance your technical growth.
- Follow all safety policies, procedures, and technical instructions; practice strong situational awareness to identify hazards and unsafe behaviors.
What you bring
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Associate degree with a technical concentration and 5 years of related, industry-specific experience; or 7 years of industry experience.
- Hands-on experience with predictive technologies, precision alignments, and general maintenance of process equipment.
- Working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, fluid power, and control systems; able to analyze issues, develop alternatives, and execute repairs.
- Comfortable using basic and specialized tools relevant to the trade.
- Background in vibration analysis or laser interferometer operation, precision alignments, and maintenance of process equipment.
- Willingness to travel as needed.
Physical demands and work environment
This role regularly involves standing, walking, handling and feeling with hands/fingers, reaching, climbing/ascending/descending or balancing at heights with a ladder or lift, and stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling in confined spaces, along with clear verbal and auditory communication. Sitting occurs occasionally. You may occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds. Close and color vision are used regularly. You may occasionally encounter outdoor weather and risk of electrical shock. Work is typically performed in a factory setting that is usually very loud, with potential exposure to hazardous materials and greasy or slippery floors.

Pay Range:
$31.75 - $40.63 USD
