Materials Logistics and Facilities Operations Coordinator
Company: Sesame Solar
Location: Jackson, MI 49201 (On-site)
Position Level: Associate
Type: Full-time
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–4:00 PM ET
A day in the role
It’s 7:30 AM in Jackson, and the first truck is at the dock. You check the delivery manifest, verify counts, and stage materials for production. By mid-morning, you’ve updated digital records, moved pallets using a forklift, and transferred project-specific parts across the factory floor. After lunch, you hop in the company F-350 (or similar) to shuttle materials between buildings. You wrap up by confirming that each project’s inventory is accurate, stock levels are healthy, and any restock needs are flagged—keeping manufacturing on schedule. When there’s a quiet moment, you lend a hand with light facilities upkeep so the entire operation runs smoothly. Office cleaning is handled by a third-party service.
What you’ll handle
- Inbound/outbound inventory: Receive, unpack, organize, and track daily shipments to maintain top-tier stock accuracy.
- Project material control: Monitor materials per build, maintain counts, and anticipate replenishment to avoid production delays.
- Material movement: Safely transport items inside the facility using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other handling equipment.
- Vehicle & equipment operation: Operate a forklift and confidently drive a company F-350 (or comparable) to support facility needs.
- Administrative accuracy: Keep precise, digital inventory records and documentation using Microsoft 365 tools.
- Facilities support: Provide general, light-duty maintenance around the factory and office as needed. Note: Office cleaning is performed by third-party providers.
Qualifications that set you up for success
- Valid driver’s license and proven ability to operate a large vehicle such as an F-350.
- Forklift capability (certification or hands-on proficiency).
- Tech-savvy with Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for documentation and tracking.
- Basic consumables know-how: bolts, screws, drill bits, welding supplies, paint, and related items.
- Research and problem-solving: Strong web search skills and openness to learning and using AI tools.
- Facilities familiarity: Comfortable with basic maintenance tasks and hand tools.
