Micromachined Parts Finishing Technician – ISO 13485

Imagine picking up a tray of tiny, high‑precision parts destined for critical medical devices. One by one, you remove burrs, break edges, and perfect surfaces so those parts are safe and ready for final processing, assembly, or shipment. As the Micromachined Parts Finishing Technician at TOMZ, you report to the cell lead and make that scenario real—every shift.

TOMZ manufactures parts through high‑precision metal machining, finishing, assembly, and anodize processes for Medical Devices. In this role, you uphold ISO 13485 documentation and operate within the TOMZ Quality Management System to ensure every component meets exacting quality standards.

Your core responsibilities

  • Finish and prepare machined or fabricated parts by deburring, polishing, and smoothing surfaces.
  • Use hand tools (files, scrapers, deburr knives, sandpaper) and power tools; run bead blast or tumbling equipment as applicable.
  • Follow work orders, prints, and specifications to achieve customer and internal requirements.
  • Inspect using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and visual checks to verify conformance.
  • Keep a clean, organized workstation; maintain tools.
  • Identify and report nonconforming parts or material issues to production or quality teams.
  • Balance speed with precision to hit production goals and timelines.
  • Comply with all safety guidelines and company procedures.
  • Adhere to the TOMZ QMS and maintain ISO 13485 records.
  • Take on additional tasks as assigned.

Skills & mindset that fit

  • Manual dexterity, steady hand‑eye coordination, and fine motor skills for small parts.
  • Ability to read basic blueprints and interpret detailed instructions.
  • Proficiency with measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges).
  • Detail‑oriented, precision‑driven, and quality‑focused.
  • Reliable time management, teamwork, strong communication, and adaptability.
  • Resourceful problem‑solver able to adjust to changing priorities.

Education

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent directly transferable work experience (Manufacturing or Engineering discipline preferred).
  • Technical school certification strongly preferred.

Preferred experience

  • Background in deburring, machining, or manufacturing.
  • Experience in regulated industries such as Aerospace, Defense, or Pharmaceutical.

Physical requirements & environment

  • Bend, stoop, squat, kneel, and lift up to 50 lbs; use team lift or mechanical assistance over 50 lbs.
  • Work around oil, grease, dust, metal particles, sparks, and sharp‑edged materials; some tasks require PPE or engineering controls.
  • Stand or sit for prolonged periods; sustain visual focus for detailed work.
  • Operate in a manufacturing floor environment with moderate noise.
