Carton Former Feeder & Quality Packer

A day in the life

Night Shift 6AM-4AM Monday-Thursday

Rotate between two core stations—Feeder and Packer—based on production needs. You’ll keep carton formers running smoothly, ensure product is glued correctly, and pack clamshell or fry cartons with accuracy and care.

Feeder: keep the lines moving

  • Continuously feed a minimum of 4 machines: lift product, pre-break, and place into the feed hopper.
  • Be able to feed and maintain 6 formers to sustain output.
  • Remove plastic from loads and pull tickets; hand tickets to the operator.
  • Monitor quality as you work: keep cartons straight, remove loose scrap, and sort as requested by the operator.
  • Maintain R.S.C. inventory and supply case packers with the R.S.C.’s required for production.
  • Practice good housekeeping.
  • Follow all safety requirements including GMP’s, PPE’s, and HACCP & JSA regulations.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Packer: finish with precision

  • Catch and maintain 6 lanes to keep pace with output.
  • Pull product from the forming chutes at the count mark.
  • Perform basic quality control to remove bad product and replace with good product.
  • Verify correct gluing and accurate counts; complete quality check-off sheets.
  • After all quality checks are completed, place product in position and into a bag.
  • After all quality checks are completed, place the sleeve of product into a bag, place the bag into a case, and set the case onto the conveyor.
  • Assist operators with cleaning glue tips.
  • Relieve other packers for breaks and lunch; assist with labeling, box repack, and keeping the area neat and clean.
  • Maintain good housekeeping.
  • Follow all safety requirements including GMP’s, PPE’s, and HACCP & JSA regulations.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Make boxes and label boxes.
  • Fill glue containers for machines.
  • Clean up the work area.
  • Check with operators or a supervisor for any additional tasks.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Experience: Packaging experience in a manufacturing setting preferred.
  • Dependable team player with the ability to read and comprehend safety rules, internal quality procedures, and machine operating procedures.
  • Clear communicator able to report production and machine issues to supervisors and coworkers.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment around machinery.
  • Basic math skills: counting; addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

Working conditions

Environment & PPE

  • Safety glasses with side shields, hearing protection, and steel-toed shoes required.
  • Task-specific PPE may be required.

Physical demands

  • Continuous use of hands and fingers to position; frequent reaching with arms.
  • Frequent bending and movement throughout the work area.
  • Occasional stationary positioning; ascending/descending steps; pushing, pulling, and communicating.
  • Occasionally move and position up to 35 pounds.
  • Vision needs include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus.
