Lead the uptime. Own the floor.
Picture a day where you start with a quick huddle alongside Production, QA, and Management. You scan CMMS work orders, line up critical changeovers, and walk the floor to confirm 5S standards. A motor starts to overheat—Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) goes on, you triage, swap parts, program the drive via the HMI, verify operation, and capture the repair details so the Maintenance Manager and team leader have complete data for trend analysis. By midday, you’re auditing a packaging setup, checking boiler performance and water chemical treatment logs, and forecasting critical spare parts. Before shift-end, you’re coaching a tech on hydraulic troubleshooting and reinforcing GMP, HACCP, CI, 5S, and company rules.
What you’ll do
- Prevent equipment failures and minimize downtime; document every breakdown and repair as directed by the team leader and/or Maintenance Manager.
- Partner closely with production to maximize line uptime and efficiency; organize maintenance materials using 5S.
- Apply LOTO consistently and report unsafe conditions immediately.
- Be hands-on with changeovers, complex repairs, parts ordering, and other maintenance work that improves efficiency across departments.
- Train and develop a high-performing maintenance team on all of the above.
- Audit, set up, assist with, and test equipment operation.
- Monitor boilers and water chemical treatment; record and review data.
- Use CMMS to submit parts requests and forecast critical spare orders.
- Lead the team to prevent downtime and elevate production performance.
- Replace motors, gearboxes, chains, gaskets, and seals as needed.
- Program drives and adjust parameters via HMI screens.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
- Foster a collaborative, team-first environment with Production, QA, and Management.
Core capabilities
- Clear, confident communicator across all levels of the organization.
- Rapid response to emergency breakdowns with fast mechanical/electrical diagnosis and repair.
- Ability to read and work from mechanical/electrical schematics, sketches, manuals, specifications, and written/oral instructions.
- Mentor others in repairs, setups, and troubleshooting.
- Operate equipment in teach mode from an HMI or teach pendant without assistance.
- Apply sound methodology to mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical repairs and deliver long-term fixes.
- Program AC/DC drives; PLC programming experience is a plus.
- Work independently from a work order with minimal direction.
- Willingness to perform any and all other duties as assigned.
Background we’re looking for
- 5+ years in an industrial/manufacturing setting.
- 5+ years hands-on across mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems, including theory.
- Advanced mechanical/electrical/hydraulic/pneumatic/HVAC/PLC theory and application.
- Intermediate to advanced AC/DC motor controls and PLC control logic.
- Intermediate PC skills (Spreadsheets, Word, Outlook).
- Training with seamers, industrial kitchen equipment, packaging setups, water treatment, and boilers.
- Seamer training and experience required; retort and can seaming are preferred.
- Minimum 5 years in food processing and packaging environments.
- Associates degree in Mechatronics, Manufacturing, or Electrical Technologies preferred.
- Training on Kuka robots, Electronics, Retort Process, Boiler Operations, and Can Seaming preferred.
- Chemical training for water de-chlorination is a plus.
- 5 years prior industrial kitchen equipment repair experience.
- Experience with CMMS, 5S, 5Y, HACCP, LOTO, and CI.
- Constant situational awareness of surroundings and conditions.
Physical and environmental conditions
Stand for the duration of the shift; push up to 200 lbs. Frequently stand, walk, reach, climb/balance, and stoop/kneel/crouch/crawl. Work at heights of 30 feet or more and lift 75+ pounds. Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and vehicles; varying weather; hot, humid temperatures; high noise; wet and slippery areas.
