Do you speak Mazatrol and love turning tight-tolerance parts?
Hydro, Inc., a Chicago-headquartered global leader in industrial pump reengineering and the world’s largest independent pump rebuilder since 1969, is hiring for our 2nd Shift.
Ask yourself:
- Can you program Mazak lathes in Mazatrol and tweak code to nail custom components?
- Do you enjoy setting up both lathes and mills and dialing in speeds/feeds for peak productivity?
- Are you comfortable machining large, refurbished pump parts to 0.001 inch?
- Can you read prints with conventional and GD&T callouts and verify your work with precision tools?
- Do you thrive working side-by-side with a strong shop team—and on your own when needed?

- Set up and operate CNC lathes and mills efficiently and safely.
- Complete complex setups on large, refurbished components.
- Plan tool layouts and prepare raw material for machining.
- Hold 0.001 inch tolerances from raw stock and castings while meeting quality standards.
- Interpret drawings with conventional tolerances and GD&T.
- Optimize speeds and feeds to improve throughput and part quality.
- Use micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other measuring tools for in-process checks.
- Compute radii, bolt circles, and key dimensions with solid shop math.
What you bring
- 3+ years of CNC programming on Mazak lathes using Mazatrol controls.
- Hands-on setup and operation of CNC lathes and mills.
- Knowledge of tool selection/layout and raw material setup.
- Proficiency in reading prints with conventional and geometric tolerances.
- Comfort with varied precision measuring instruments.
