Step into a role where your mechanical problem-solving keeps commercial cleaning and restoration operations running. From your first diagnostic of the morning to the last estimate you present in the afternoon, you’ll blend hands-on repairs, precise documentation, and clear customer communication.

What Your Day Looks Like

  • Begin by reviewing incoming service orders, organizing the shop workload, and aligning priorities with fellow technicians.
  • Diagnose and repair systems and components across a wide range of commercial cleaning, restoration, and surface-prep equipment.
  • Use testing instruments, manufacturer repair manuals, and troubleshooting guides to pinpoint issues and verify fixes.
  • Create detailed service orders, build repair bids, and present estimates to customers in person, by phone, and via email.
  • Coordinate service appointments and keep scheduling software up to date so customers know exactly when to expect their equipment back.
  • Order parts, work with vendors, and confirm correct components are on hand for efficient turnaround.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace while caring for shop tools and equipment.
  • Collaborate with service and store staff, take direction from supervisors, and assist teammates as needed to meet or exceed quality and productivity goals.

Equipment You’ll Work On

  • 2-, 3-, and 4-cylinder gas engines (plus applying your basic automotive experience where relevant)
  • Truck-mounted carpet cleaning units
  • Portable carpet extractors
  • Hard surface floor cleaning machines
  • Duct cleaning equipment
  • Deodorizing systems
  • Dehumidifiers
  • Air scrubbers and air movers
  • HEPA vacuums

How You’ll Succeed

  • Evaluate equipment thoroughly and communicate any additional service needs to the service department and the customer.
  • Follow established diagnostic procedures and manufacturer guidance for reliable repairs.
  • Keep customers informed at every step—scheduling, estimates, progress, and pickup.
  • Coordinate with other technicians to balance workload and meet turnaround targets.
