Imagine walking onto the production floor, receiving a precise handoff from the prior shift, and bringing an injection molding cell to life with a smooth start-up. As our Injection Molding Process Setup Technician, you’ll orchestrate changeovers, dial in processes, and keep equipment running at peak performance—so every part meets spec, every time.
What Your Day Looks Like
- Review machine performance with the previous shift and confirm operating conditions.
- Start up, operate, monitor, and adjust assigned production equipment to hit production goals and quality targets.
- Execute mold changeovers and basic troubleshooting to sustain optimal throughput.
- Complete routine equipment adjustments and preventative maintenance tasks.
- Escalate equipment concerns or mechanical issues promptly to maintenance.
Quality First
- Conduct in-process inspections to verify parts meet specifications.
- Document process changes, machine adjustments, and any quality issues.
- Identify defects, correct root causes, and adhere to quality procedures and work instructions.
Materials, Housekeeping, and Safety
- Maintain required raw material levels at the machine.
- Keep your cell organized, clean, and free of debris in line with plant standards.
- Follow all safety policies, wear required PPE, and report hazards immediately.
- Engage in safety initiatives and training to strengthen our safety culture.
Beyond the Basics
- Follow plant job specifications and task requirements.
- Support overtime, plant shutdowns, and special projects as needed.
- Attend meetings and training; perform other duties as assigned.
Food Safety & Quality Commitment
- Monitor and verify activities to ensure products meet food safety and quality requirements.
- Follow company food safety, GMP, and quality assurance procedures.
- Restore product contact surfaces to sanitary conditions after maintenance or production activities.
- Accurately complete all required food safety and quality documentation.
- Immediately report food safety, quality, or process concerns to supervision.
Responsible for food safety, food quality, and site safety.
What You Bring
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- 1–2 years of manufacturing, machine operation, or production experience preferred.
- Mechanical aptitude with strong troubleshooting ability.
- Comfort working independently and collaboratively.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to follow written instructions, procedures, and production specifications.
Preferred Background
- Plastics manufacturing and/or packaging industry experience.
- Hands-on experience with machine set-ups and changeovers.
- Success in a fast-paced production environment.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Stand and walk on concrete floors for extended periods.
- Bend, stoop, twist, reach, push, and pull throughout the shift.
- Use hands to handle equipment, tools, and materials.
- Ability to work a 12-hour shift schedule.
- Close vision required for inspections and quality checks.
Work Environment
This role is based in a manufacturing setting with:
- Production machinery and moving equipment.
- Moderate to high noise levels (hearing protection required).
- Temperature variations common to manufacturing facilities.
- Exposure to plastics manufacturing processes.
