Heat‑Treat Furnace Operator & Batch Racking Lead

Role Overview

From the first heat-up to final cool-down, you’ll be the steady hand guiding our batch and temper furnaces. In this role, you’ll oversee Batch Rackers on the floor, make precise control adjustments, burn shims and record results, and step in to rack and unrack product whenever needed. You’ll also help train teammates across departments and keep our documentation tight and accurate.

A Day in the Life

You start your shift by checking the furnace schedule and verifying that products are racked with the correct fixtures and alloys. As you bring the batch and temper furnaces online, you fine-tune controls to maintain exact parameters. Between runs, you perform routine maintenance on the carbon analyzer, burn shims, and log all readings and paperwork. You audit unracking steps against requirements, lend a hand to the team with racking/unracking, and finish by reviewing tags and departmental paperwork for completeness and accuracy. Throughout, you keep the work area clean, safe, and organized while mentoring newer team members.
