Swiss CNC Turning Specialist — Medical Devices

Shape What Heals: Swiss CNC Turning Specialist

Picture your shift beginning with a clean handoff and a fresh work order in the ERP queue. You review the blueprint and inspection check-sheets, confirm tools and fixtures, and bring a Swiss-style lathe online for a critical implant component. You fine-tune offsets, run a first-article, validate with calipers, micrometers, height stands, and comparators, and capture quality checks electronically. When a dimension drifts mid-run, you diagnose, adjust, and keep the plan on track for on-time delivery. That’s a day in this role.

How You’ll Contribute

  • Own machine setups, changeovers, and CNC program debugging, making precise adjustments and tooling changes to hit spec the first time.
  • Operate and maintain CNC Swiss-style lathes along with finishing machines, hand tools, and fixtures; perform thorough burr removal and part finishing.
  • Interpret blueprints, inspection check-sheets, and work instructions to guide production decisions.
  • Measure with confidence using calipers, micrometers, height stands, and comparators; document results electronically.
  • Leverage ERP and machine monitoring systems to manage work orders, track productivity, and record quality checkpoints.
  • Partner with CNC programmers by providing actionable feedback; keep setup documentation current in accordance with change control procedures.
  • Guide teammates within your area to maximize machine utilization and production attainment; support training as needed.
  • Champion continuous improvement for quality and delivery while executing the production plan to meet customer deadlines.
  • Support new product introductions (NPI) through program debugging and setup optimization to launch parts successfully.

Tools, Platforms, and Processes

  • Swiss-style lathes such as Citizen, Tsugami, or similar platforms.
  • ERP and machine monitoring systems for scheduling, visibility, and traceability.
  • Quality instrumentation: calipers, micrometers, height stands, comparators.

What You Bring

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; advanced technical training preferred.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience operating Swiss-style lathes in manufacturing (medical preferred).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of machinery, tooling, measuring, and gauging equipment, plus a deep grasp of production processes.
  • Expertise in setups, blueprint reading, routers, and setup files; working knowledge of basic CNC programming.
  • Understanding of part requirements to ensure both functional and cosmetic quality.
  • Clear verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across production, management, and technical teams.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing concepts and objectives.
  • Reliability in following instructions and executing tasks as directed by the Supervisor.
  • Commitment to our core values and professional behaviors.
  • Understanding of Avalign’s Quality System, including strong familiarity with Measurement Instruction Sheet layout and purpose, and Avalign’s Compliance Policies.

Impact

Your proactive problem-solving will close production gaps, protect quality, and ensure on-time delivery of medical instruments and implants that patients depend on.
