Industrial Maintenance Technician — Metals Processing

Industrial Maintenance Technician — Metals Processing

Join a legacy that began in 1842. At Ryerson, a premier supplier of industrial metal products and services, you’ll find a dynamic, quality-driven environment where your growth is backed by real opportunities and hands-on learning.

A day in the life (2nd Shift: 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM)

You clock in at 3:00 PM and open eMaint to review scheduled work orders. You verify parts availability, update manual parts lists, and prep your toolkit. Working alongside a designated trainer, you interpret blueprints, schematics, and service manuals to diagnose issues on production equipment. Through the shift, you perform predictive and routine/productive maintenance, document each step precisely, and coordinate with operations leadership to plan repairs that minimize downtime. When a machine flags an error, you jump in to troubleshoot, analyze the failure, and support a safe return to service—all while maintaining strict documentation practices.

What you’ll do

  • Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies, materials, and equipment to support timely repairs.
  • Use blueprints, specifications, diagrams, and service manuals to repair and maintain plant equipment under the guidance of a designated trainer.

  • Assist with scheduling maintenance and partner closely with operations leadership to coordinate equipment and facility repairs.
  • Ensure accurate and complete maintenance documentation in line with requirements and best practices.
