The role at a glance
- Impact: Form precision sheet metal components that meet tight tolerances and AS9100 standards.
- Collaboration: Work closely with Engineering, Quality, and Production to ensure parts are accurate, safe, and on time.
- Focus: Setup, operate, inspect, and continuously improve press brake operations.
Core responsibilities
- Setup & operation
- Load programs, stage tooling, follow work instructions.
- Adjust machine parameters to achieve correct angles and dimensions.
- Run first articles and make precise corrections.
- Fabrication
- Bend and form per drawings, prints, and bend instructions.
- Hold dimensional and visual quality requirements.
- Tooling & equipment
- Select and maintain tooling; replace minor wear items.
- Perform daily machine care; report issues promptly.
- Quality & compliance
- Conduct in-process and final inspections; record results.
- Communicate and contain nonconformances; support AS9100 compliance.
- Production support
- Meet daily schedule targets without compromising quality.
- Flag material shortages, delays, or obstacles; assist CI efforts.
- Safety & 5S
- Wear required PPE and follow safety protocols.
- Maintain a clean, hazard-free workspace; report near misses.
Must-have qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to read mechanical drawings and use precision measurement tools.
- Knowledge of bend allowances and foundational press brake programming.
- Strong attention to detail; able to work independently and meet deadlines.
Preferred background
- 1+ year press brake experience in precision sheet metal.
- Experience in manufacturing or aerospace environments.
Work environment & physical demands
- Manufacturing floor with machinery, metal, and production noise.
- Standing for long periods; lifting up to 50 lbs; frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive motion.
- PPE usage required at all times.
Schedule
- 2:15 PM – 10:45 PM, Monday–Friday
- Flexibility may be needed for production priorities.
