Facility Fire Operations and Security Responder

Imagine this

An alarm pierces the early morning. You and your crew roll a unit, bring the rig online, and coordinate with security as you approach the scene. You stabilize a patient as a National Registry EMT, contain a small fire with the right apparatus, and then capture the facts in a clear, complete report. This is how you protect people and keep steelmaking moving at Mon Valley Works.

Your mission

  • Provide rapid response across patrol, fire suppression, and EMS.
  • Operate fire apparatus and equipment safely and effectively.
  • Execute fire prevention and site security tasks as assigned.
  • Investigate incidents and document findings with precision.

Environment and hours

Work spans multiple Mon Valley facilities in a heavy industrial setting where conditions may be hot, cold, dirty, greasy, wet, and noisy.

  • Rotating shifts are standard, including Saturdays and Sundays.
  • Overtime will be required based on operational needs.

What you bring

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Pennsylvania Emergency Medical Technician certification or National Registry EMT (or higher).
  • Minimum two years’ experience spanning medical, fire, and security functions.
  • Firefighter I certification (Pro Board or IFSAC).
  • Composure in high‑stress, time‑critical situations.
  • Capability to conduct investigations and produce factual reports.
  • Hazardous Materials Operations level with rope and confined space rescue skills.

Bonus qualifications

  • Paramedic — Advanced EMT.
  • Hazardous Materials Technician.
  • Association Firefighter 1/2 certification preferred.
