Industrial Maintenance Electrician — PLC/Drives Specialist

You start your shift walking the production floor of our 250-employee plant, built in 1987 and dedicated to making portion cup lids, coffee lids, and cold cup lids. A line goes down—within minutes you’re tracing the fault, meter in hand, scanning schematics, validating continuity, and bringing equipment safely back online. From high‑voltage feeds (up to 480V 3‑phase AC and 500V DC) to low‑voltage controls, your expertise keeps our manufacturing humming, just 16 miles southwest of Chicago in Bedford Park, IL.

What you'll tackle

• Diagnose malfunctioning electrical systems and components using test gear and hand tools, pinpointing issues and correcting problems efficiently.
• Inspect electrical equipment, systems, and components to identify hazards, defects, and repair needs, ensuring compliance with applicable codes.
• Repair or replace wiring and equipment using appropriate hand and power tools.
• Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical/electronic wiring, equipment, and fixtures with proper tooling and safe practices.
• Test systems and verify circuit continuity with ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes to confirm compatibility and safety; document work in an internet-based work order system within a Microsoft Windows environment.

Tools and tech you’ll command

• Digital multimeters, ammeters, oscilloscopes
• Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC)
• AC/DC drives, low-voltage control circuits

The knowledge you bring

• Strong troubleshooting across high-voltage systems up to 480V 3‑phase AC and 500V DC, plus low‑voltage controls.
• Proficiency with test instrumentation including digital multimeters and amp meters.
• Fluency in reading schematics and electrical symbols; ability to interpret specifications.
• Solid electrical theory, including practical application of Ohm’s law.
• Hands-on mechanical aptitude, including pneumatics and hydraulics.
• Experience with AC/DC drives and PLCs in a manufacturing environment.

What it takes

• 5+ years working with high-voltage systems up to 480V 3‑phase power and 500V DC, plus AC/DC drives and PLCs in a manufacturing setting.
• Applied electrical theory (Ohm’s law) with broad technical/mechanical skills, including pneumatic and hydraulic fundamentals.
